Two Teams Clinch League Titles
Shelter Insurance and Bolivar Insurance and Real Estate sewed up league championships this past week and The Gym Health and Fitness Center clinched a tie for the league title.
Shelter’s 5-1 win over CJ Printing on May 23 gave them a 9-1 record and ensured Jason Wilson’s team of the title with two games to play in the 10U league.
Bolivar Insurance and Real Estate got an 18-2 win over VFW on May 24 to clinch the 12U league and the Gym Health and Fitness Center, coached by Richard Vincent, beat second place contender Home Run Pizzeria 18-3 to give them a three game lead with three to play in 8U play.
Still in doubt is the 6U league, where Joe’s Restaurant lead Star Physical Therapy by a game. The teams had their game postponed by rain on April 29 and May 20 and are scheduled to play the final game of the season as well. Joe’s is currently 8-1, while Star, who have won seven in a row is 7-2. The one game between the two clubs completed this season was an 11-10 win for Star May 17.
Closing ceremonies for the boys are scheduled for June 4.
Only one race is within a game in Dizzy Dean Softball, where the 8U league has H&R Block (4-3) ahead of Two Little Hoots (3-4) by a game. The teams are scheduled to play two more times before the close of the season.
Knight’s Welding (7-0) remains unbeaten in the 6U league, while Precision Industries (5-0) and El Ranchito (4-2) have clinched the 12U and 10U leagues, respectively.
