Tigers Get First 4-0 Start in the 21st Century

Bolivar Central made a fourth-quarter comeback to become the first Tiger team since before 2000 to make it to 4-0.
The last Tiger team to go 3-0 was the 2008 squad, but Coach Keith Perry’s team followed that start with 12 straight losses that stretched in to 2009.
Bolivar got off to a quick 21-0 start, but found themselves down 39-35 with 7:39 remaining in the game.
“You want to be in tough situations,” said Coach Woodrow Lowe who raised his career record with Bolivar to 13-12. “We fought back and won the game.”
With the exception of the final drive of the game for the Hawks, which ended in a fumble, Bolivar allowed touchdowns on five straight possessions.
“They ran something we didn’t practice against and we couldn’t stop it,” said Lowe. “But we didn’t turn the ball over and when you do that, you can win. But it was an ugly win.”
Drek Lewis was named the Vaughan Oil Player of the Game, while his brother Jar was named the Lineman of the Game. Jar Lewis had a season-high 18 tackles, including 14 solo stops.
Quarterback Trey Lowe threw for 248 yards on 12 of 15 passing with three touchdowns, two of them to Demarkus Murrell, who left the gamein the second quarter with an arm injury.
