Labor Day

A long, long time ago, but not too far away, the Quarter Back club sponsored a dove shoot at Grey’s Creek. Very large field, lots of shooter’s and plenty of doves. As the afternoon progressed, it sounded like a young war.
Many years later, Grey’s Creek wetland area had a public dove shoot. Wow! Lots of shooters, lots of doves. Now? It’s my understanding the state is going to plant trees.  Not being farmed seems such a waste. I have a suggestion. Why not our own refuge?
I harp every year about the refuges, holding the ducks, well, why can’t we hold them? They will never do away with refuges, so, why not us? Maybe all the duck hunters in the area should ponder that?
