More 'shots fired' calls come into 911

Bolivar residents continue to face violence as four additional 'shots fired' calls have come into the Hardeman County 911 dispatch center since Friday. The shootings, a continuation of months of 'shots fired' calls and shootings resulting in property damage and community fear, have caused residents to request a special called meeting with Bolivar City Mayor Barrett Stevens and the Bolivar City Council.

One resident, who did not want to be identified for fear of her safety, said she hears gunshots on a regular basis.

"It's Thanksgiving and Christmas time. It's supposed to be a good time for kids and families but it sounds like a war outside my house nearly every night. I don't go out. I stay in and keep my doors locked. It's just a wonder no bullets have come through my wall or hit my stuff yet. It's nothing but these gangs. They got to do something with these gangs," said the resident. Multiple residents concerned about their safety are expected to attend the city council special called meeting and voice their concerns.

The Council has scheduled the special called meeting for Monday, November 24, at 5:30 p.m. in the Municipal Center.
