Balloon release to raise money and awareness for Alzheimers and honor Monroe Jordan

A balloon release, scheduled to be held on Saturday, November 15 at 11 a.m. at Middleon City Park, will honor former law enforcement officer Monroe Jordan while raising funds for Alzheimer's research and awareness. Jordan's family is hosting the event. They said the event began as a way to honor Jordan, but later became a way to raise funds for Alzheimer's as they met more families dealing with the disease.

Those planning on attending the event, can purchase a balloon and have a note attached to the balloon with their address on the back. This provides an opportunity for whoever finds the balloon to contact the purchaser and it can be tracked as to how far the balloons travel.

Purple balloons and t-shirts are available for purchase. Balloons can be purchased the day of the event. T-shirt orders can be purchased by contacting 731-212-2737 before November 7. Jordan's family is asking everyone who purchases a t-shirt to wear it to the balloon release.

All funds raised from the balloon release will be donated to the WMJ Alzheimer's Foundation for the Mid-South Chapter.
