New website promotes Bolivar’s history

A new website launched by APTA Hardeman County Chapter President Ken Savage and his brother is providing information on the rich history of the county and allowing residents to enjoy the historical documents and information contained. Additionally, residents can submit their own photos and information to be added to the site.
The website, www.historicbolivartn.com, contains documents researched from the state archives and submitted by residents. Documents including history on Western State Mental Health, Hardeman County Courthouse, Union Cemetery, Ingram Hall, Multicultural History Museum, family biographies, histories of towns and cities in the county, photos of historical information such as receipts from advertising in the Bolivar Bulletin as far back as the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
“It’s an ongoing project,” Savage said. “We just want people to know it is here and if they have any information or stories they want to add to it, they can contact us.”
