Jobless Numbers Go Up for County

Hardeman County saw unemployment go up in June, as rates rose in every county in the state for the May-June period.
The 6.4% estimated rate for Hardeman County is better than 27 other counties in the state, including neighboring McNairy County, who came in at 7.6%. The rise in rates was explained by the state as being caused by the seasonal closing of schools.
In Hardeman County, the state says a potential workforce of 9,440 had 610 out of work in June.
Numbers for Hardeman County are expected to take a hit for the month of July as well, as Kilgore Flares of Toone added to the jobless numbers with layoffs.
