Grand Junction Board of Aldermen has busy agenda

The City of Grand Junction continues to search for a new Fire Chief. It was announced at the February Board of Aldermen meeting they have received several resumes. The ad seeking applicants will continue to run for one more week.
Another item under old business centered around the recently purchased Dunn Building which will be the location of the city’s library in the future. Plagued by leaks, the roof was temporarily repaired in December. The city is now looking into a permanent solution. A motion was made and carried to solicit bids to reroof the building. The bids will be to either replace the existing flat roof or install a hip metal roof. The board will make a decision on the type of replacement after bids are received.
Another motion made and passed by the board was selection of the type insurance the city would purchase on the school property. The old school building will be insured for its cash value. The library will be insured for its replacement value. Both policies will have a $500 deductible. The board also approved purchasing a $500 deductible replacement policy on the city’s lagoon. The insurance will be through the Tennessee Municipal League (TML).
