They Voted. You Still Have Time

Voter turnout in Hardeman County has been lower than expected through the first 12 days of early voting, according to the Hardeman County Election Commission totals.
Through July 26, 1,369 had voted, with 783 declaring for the Democratic Primary and 532 Republican. Fifty-four voters declined to vote in the primaries and voted only in the general election. With two days left, voters will have to hustle to equal 2012’s 2,223 who voted early.
Early voting in Hardeman County will be until July 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. weekdays and from 9:00 a.m. to Noon on Saturday. Election Day is August 4.
County-wide, voters will choose between incumbent Josh Pulse and challenger John Vickers for Assessor of Property. Other county spots on the ballot are two commission seats, three school board spots, and a road supervisor position.
Voters in Whiteville will have to choose three aldermen from a list of five and a mayor from three candidates. Running for mayor are incumbent James R. Bellar, challenged by Leon Crisp and Aubrey Phillips.
Voters will also select candidates for the November elections in primaries for state representatives and for state senator.
