The 2013 Cornfield Cuties

'36 Years Of Hardeman County Hee Haw' Chapter 34 1 of 2

Hee Haw's 2013 theme was "Bringing Back The Good Old Days." As the curtain on the stage of the Hardeman County Arts Center opens, we see the much loved "Ida Lee and Laverne" greeting the crowd with their familiar Yin-yang. They indeed compliment each other, and bring familiar "comical  memories" to our minds of our own families. Ida Lee (Nancy Weems) and Laverne (William Weems) are married and have played this comical couple from 1980-1991 and 2001 till present day. From 1991-2000 Johnny Weems (Nancy and William's son) played Laverne and Teresa Kirk played Ida Lee. They were great! Who can forget Teresa Kirk "roller-skating" across the stage in a multi-colored pastel tutu and shinny turquoise leotards, or Johnny Weems in his brightly colored child's swimming-tube, sunning himself on a chase-lounge with his cowboy boots on?
Seeing the re-runs of TV's Hee Haw series magnifies the incredible talent of our local Hee Haw crew.  All of our local performer's talent and acting style, consistently rival the original stars on TV's Hee Haw.
The cast of 2013's Hee Haw: Grandpa (Bob Vickers), Roy (David Sipes has played Roy Clark on almost every show since the first Hee Haw in 1980), Ida Lee (Nancy Weems), Lavern (William Weems), Doc (Gawaine Carroll), Foster Brooks (Todd Pulse has played Foster since he was a young teenager in 1980. Todd by the way, is a "teetotaler" but has always played his role better than Brooks himself.), Nurse Goodbody (Julie Strope), Junior Samples (Stacy Swift), Gordie (Mark Gilliam), Finus/Judge (Boyette Denton), Loulou (Marlene Cabanaw), Sinus (Tim Moss), Maynard (Darrell Teubner), Miss Scarlett (Tracy Byrum), Stringbean (Ray Grantham has played Stringbean in almost every show since 1980, that's dedication), Josh (Josh Pulse), Greg (Greg Vaughan), Johnny (Johnny Weems) and Bubbie (Bubbie Yarbrough).
