US Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots will have their sign ups and donation information at the Bolivar Library everyday through November 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., or call Nikki Williams at 731-616-8942.

A Senior Lunch will be held at Hebron Baptist Church, October 20 at Noon. Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy.

The Middleton Library will have Natalie Wade of Paris, TN on Friday, October 21st at 3:30 p.m. She will read and have an activity for the kids. Natalie is the author of several children's books including The Tale of the Late Bloomer as well as her Lily books.

The Middleton Library began their Great Reading Challenge in September for adult readers. Another drawing will be held at the end of October. The Fall Frenzy featuring many business and service vendors from Hardeman County offering their seasonal merchandise to harvest for the holidays including clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, fragrances, and many more. Refreshments are provided and door prizes will be presented throughout the frenzy. If you enjoyed last year, bring a friend and come and see at Centennial Bank from 5:30-7:30 p.m.!

Judgment House 2016 presented by Bethlehem #1 MBC is a ten scene walk through drama, which effectively presents the gospel through a relevant and gripping story. Guests are led through a series of rooms that tell a story about people whose lives have been cut short unexpected through some sort of tragedy.  Judgment House takes approximately one hour with groups entering every 15 minutes. The Lucy Black Haunted House at 65 Lucy Black Road behind Bolivar Ford is open every Friday and Saturday night in October at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $5.  100% of proceeds benefit Relay for Life and their fight against cancer.

The Hardeman County APTA and Epic Haunted Tours present History, Legends, Ghosts and More every weekend in October with a golf cart tour of Polk Cemetery and paranormal investigation. There will be a unique adventure with over 20 different character guides each Friday and Saturday night. tnAchieves is currently recruiting volunteers to serve as mentors for the TN Promise Class of 2017. We need to recruit 9,000 mentors to meet the projected student demand. Go to www.tnachieves.org/mentor/apply to sign up.

The 37th Annual Christian Educator’s Workshop will be held on Wednesday, October 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 8:15 p.m. at Whiteville Mennonite Church at 7065 Fayette Corner Road in Whiteville.  This workshop is for teachers, homeschoolers, parents, and school board members. Call Merlin Mast at 659-2576.

The National Weather Service will offer a Storm Spotters class at the Bolivar Municipal Center on October 27 at 6:30 p.m.

First Baptist Church 525 N. Main St. Middleton will have their Autumn Fest on Saturday, October 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be games, prizes, pictures, door prizes, food and more.  All are welcome to this free event.

Mt. Gilead Baptist Church at 6185 Rowsey School Rd in Bethel Springs will be hosting the Crossing Jordan Quartet in concert on Sunday, October 30 at 5:00 p.m.  Crossing Jordan is a traditional Southern Gospel Quartet from Covington, TN.  There is no charge for the concert, but a freewill love offering will be received to help the quartet with their expenses.  If you need further information, please call the church office at 645-8868 or Pastor Mike Hollaway 610-1077.

The UT Extension Office is having a Holly Jolly Christmas Party on Friday, November 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with festive crafts and gifts that you can take home. The Tennessee Department of Agriculture has expanded the application schedule for the 2016 Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program (TAEP). Applications will be accepted online and by mail October 1 through November 1. Applications are available at most farm agencies including USDA Farm Service Agency, UT Extension and Farm Bureau offices, as well as most farm supply stores. The State of TN Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services has launched a mission partnering with faith based communities in Bolivar to reach out to those struggling with addictions and connecting them to vital substance abuse services. New Bethel Baptist Church Services will begin each Sunday with Sunday school at 10:00 a.m. followed by worship service at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and on Wednesdays nights at 6:30 p.m. with Brother Robert Buse preaching.  Everyone is welcome and invited to attend.

Tennessee State Parks will host three Girls Outdoors (GO!) workshops on October 29-30 at Chickasaw State Park. The workshops aim to provide girls ages 12-15 with an authentic experience in the great outdoors, an opportunity to learn about women working in the science and conservation fields, and the desire to foster a strong foundation in the natural world.
