Music on the Square will see Small Shack returning to headline the stage tonight and Hunter Cross will kick the evening off at 7:00 p.m., at the Bolivar Downtown Amphitheatre where there’s always a great family atmosphere and concessions.
The Bolivar Farmers Market at 110 Lafayette St. is open at 7:00 a.m., on Tuesdays and Saturdays, for the remainder of the growing season. Be there early for the best selection of plants, baked goods, crafts, beef, pork and produce including a variety of apples from Woodall’s Farms on Tuesdays. October 18 will be the final day of sale.
The City of Bolivar has announced Neighborhood Cleanup Day on Saturday, October 1 from 8:00 a.m. to Noon in the Mitchell, Naylor, Elm, and Sycamore Streets area. Lunch will be provided. Call 658-2020 for more information.
The Whiteville Mennonite School is sponsoring their Fall Festival that will be held at Byler Woodcrafts and Furniture, 1/2 mile east of Backermann’s Country Market on Saturday, October 1 with breakfast starting at 7:00 a.m. Also featured are homemade donuts, free coffee, BBQ and chicken lunch plates, chili, ice cream churned on the spot and a craft auction that begins at 10:00 a.m.
Middleton Elementary School presents their Halloween Costume 5K Fun Run at their campus on October 1 at 8:30 a.m. Bring registration form and $5 to MES or pay the day of the race. Proceeds benefit their PTO and stay for the Harvest Festival from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including free admission, a silent auction, live auction, sweet shop, general store, concessions, haunted house, hair coloring, party inflatables, cake walk, games and more.

The Hardeman County APTA and Epic Haunted Tours present History, Legends, Ghosts and More every weekend in October beginning October 7 with a golf cart tour of Polk Cemetery and paranormal investigation. The Annual Fire and Emergency Services Festival will be held in the Walmart parking lot on October 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. there will be emergency vehicles on display, Hospital Wing/Air Evac, child fingerprinting, fire prevention and Firewise information, demonstrations, child safety seat checks, Smokey the Bear and free concessions.
The Tennessee Department of Agriculture has expanded the application schedule for the 2016 Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program (TAEP). Applications will be accepted online and by mail October 1 through November 1. Hardeman Adoptable Animals Shelter needs volunteers to socialize with these wonderful animals while they are waiting for their permanent and forever homes. Any and all help is appreciated including but not limited to playing with, walking and cleaning food/water bowls and habitats. The shelter is full to capacity with dogs that need permanent homes. Non committal volunteer hours are daily from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Pedigree dog food, blankets and money donations are always welcome. The shelter is located within the Hardeman County Landfill on Walton Road west of Bolivar.
