Hardeman County Community Calendar

  • The Hardeman County APTA and Epic Haunted Tours present History, Legends, Ghosts and More every weekend in October beginning October 7 with a golf cart tour of Polk Cemetery and a paranormal investigation both nights. There will be a unique adventure with different character guides each night. Tickets are $25/night or $35/weekend and are on sale at hardemancountyapta.org or call 731-658-7912.
  • Ebenezer Cemetery needs volunteers to help with Clean-up Day on Saturday, September 24 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Please bring your limb trimmers, axes, shovels, lawn mowers, weed eaters and rakes. The cemetery is located about 5 miles south of Middleton on Hwy 125 on Windwood Farms Road.  For more information call 376-2121.
  • Music on the Square features Dawg Creek Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Three Flights Up will return to the stage at the Bolivar Downtown Amphitheatre where there’s always concessions and a great family atmosphere.
  • The Bolivar Farmers Market at 110 Lafayette St. is open on Tuesdays and Saturdays, for the remainder of the growing season. Be there early for the best selection of plants, baked goods, crafts, beef, pork and produce including a variety of apples from Woodall’s Farms on Tuesdays.  October 18 will be the final day of sale.
  • The City of Bolivar presents the Children’s Patriotic Festival September 17 beginning at 10:00 a.m. in downtown Bolivar. For more details call the chamber at 658-6554.
  • Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at Star Physical Therapy and The Gym Health and Fitness, 789 Tennessee St., will be held on Saturday, September 24 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Concessions and free food and t-shirts for all Law Enforcement Officers. There will also be beach volleyball, Tug-o-War, Giant Jenga, The Gym’s obstacle course, lawn games and much more! Call 658-2206 for information and hug a cop today!   • The Whiteville Mennonite School is sponsoring their Fall Festival that will be held at BylerCraft, 1/2 mile east of Backermann’s Country Market in Saturday, October 1 with breakfast starting at 7:00 a.m. Also featured are homemade donuts, free coffee, BBQ and chicken lunch plates, chili, ice cream churned on the spot and a craft auction that begins at 10:00 a.m. For more details call 432-2075.
  • Middleton Elementary School presents their Halloween Costume 5K Fun Run at their campus on October 1 at 8:30 a.m. Bring registration form and $5 to MES or pay the day of the race. Proceeds benefit MES PTO.
  • The Middleton Elementary School will hold their Harvest Festival on October 1 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Featured will include free admission,  a silent auction, live auction, sweet shop, general store, concessions, haunted house, hair coloring, party inflatables, cake walk and games.
  • The City of Bolivar has announced Neighborhood Cleanup Day on Saturday, October 1. If you have any questions about Cleanup Day call 658-2020.
  • The Tennessee Department of Agriculture has expanded the application schedule for the 2016 Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program (TAEP). Applications will be accepted online and by mail October 1 through November 1. Applications are available at most farm agencies including USDA Farm Service Agency, UT Extension and Farm Bureau offices, as well as most farm supply stores. To ensure accuracy, producers are encouraged to work with their local extension agent or TDA representative when completing the application.   • Become A Certified Recovery Congregation. The State of TN Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services has launched a mission partnering with faith based communities in Bolivar to reach out to those struggling with addictions and connecting them to vital substance abuse services.   • Bolivar General Hospital is hosting an Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. For more details call Sara Skinner at 659-0216.
  • Hardeman Adoptable Animals Shelter needs volunteers to socialize with these wonderful animals while they are waiting for their permanent and forever homes.  Any and all help is appreciated including but not limited to playing with, walking and cleaning food/water bowls and habitats. The shelter is full to capacity with dogs that need permanent homes.  Non committal volunteer hours are daily from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Pedigree dog food, blankets and money donations are always welcome. The shelter is located within the Hardeman County Landfill on Walton Road west of Bolivar.   • New Bethel Baptist Church Services will begin each Sunday with Sunday school at 10:00 a.m. followed by worship service at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and on Wednesdays nights at 6:30 p.m. with Brother Robert Buse preaching.  Everyone is welcome and invited to attend.
