Music on the Square will see the Wise Guys opening up the evening at 7:00 p.m. and Small Shack will return to the stage this Friday at 8:00 p.m. and Gospel Music on the Square will begin at 7:00 on Saturday, August 20 with Adoration and The Barnetts from Stanton, TN will take the stage at 8:00 at the Bolivar Downtown Amphitheatre where there’s always concessions and a great family atmosphere.

The Bolivar Farmers Market at 110 Lafayette St. is open on Saturdays and Tuesdays, Thursdays beginning at 7:00 a.m. for the remainder of the growing season. Be there early for the best selection of plants, produce, baked goods, crafts, beef and pork.  

St. Mary Catholic Church Bolivar is hosting a Rummage Sale on Saturday, August 20 from 8:30 a.m. to Noon at 223 Mecklenburgh Dr.

The Hardeman County Arts Council will hold auditions for its December production, One Bethlehem Night on August 20 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and August 21 from 2:00 – 4:.00 p.m. All ages of actors (speaking and non speaking parts), singers, and children (ages 8-14) are needed. If you would like to audition for this Broadway style Christmas musical, bring your music to use during your audition to 1580 W. Market St., in Bolivar. First Baptist Church of Grand Junction will be sponsoring a Wild Game Dinner this Saturday, August 20 at 6:00 p.m. It will be held at Bryan Hall at the Ames Plantation, 3890 Buford Ellington Rd., Grand Junction. This is a community event open to everyone. There will be door prizes, drawings, and guest speaker Larry Rea.  Bring a cooked critter and chow down, but no live snakes or raw skunks allowed.  For those who are not as adventurous, there will also be a variety of entrées that do not include wild game, vegetables and dessert!

Become A Certified Recovery Congregation. The State of TN Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services has launched a mission partnering with faith based communities in Bolivar. Together, we can reach out to those struggling with addictions and connecting them to vital substance abuse services. Walgreens Pharmacist Adrian Cross will be at the Bolivar Senior Center on August 29 to offer flu shots from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Most insurance will cover the cost. Please check with your insurance carrier and forms will be available to complete. Please call Peggy Adelman 658-2887 to reserve you inoculation so they will have enough on hand or stop by the Bolivar Senior Center.

Learn How to Take Care of Your Diabetes on Wednesdays at the Bolivar Senior Center through September 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  These classes are free and you do not have to be diabetic to attend. Call Peggy Adelman at 658-2887 for more information.

Lifeline Blood Services will be at Bolivar Ford on Friday, August 26 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Please remember to bring your photo ID.  You can save time by registering online at lifelinebloodserv.org. All donors will receive a free t-shirt and 15% off coupon for an oil change from Bolivar Ford.

An Ol’ Fashioned Picnic will be held on the lawn of Hardeman County Court Square on Thursday, August 27 beginning at 4:00 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs as HC residents, pastors and ministers and local officials come together to surround the community in Love and Prayer. Food and drinks are provided.

The Middleton Fin, Fur and Feather Festival will be held on Friday and Saturday, September 2 and 3. FFF Art Show entries will only be accepted on August 29 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. NO late entries will be accepted. For more information call 376-8409.

The Hardeman County Arts Council (HCAC) brings Dearly Departed to the stage on Friday and Saturday, September 9 and 10 at 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, September 11 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 and will go on sale at the Arts Council to HCAC members on Monday, August 29 and to the general public on Monday, September 6. The Hornsby Fall Classic will be held on September 10. This free event will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will feature a lawn mower pull, motorcycle run, art exhibit, hayride tours, live music, kids rides and activities, antique tractor and car show, food, drinks and much more. Patriot Day Community Memorial Event will be held on Sunday, September 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Hardeman County Courthouse Square in Bolivar. This 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on our nation. This event is sponsored by the Bolivar Fire Department and Cry Out America Hardeman County.

Hardeman Adoptable Animals Shelter needs volunteers to socialize with these wonderful animals while they are waiting for their permanent and forever homes.  Any and all help is appreciated including but not limited to playing with, walking and cleaning food/water bowls and habitats. The shelter is full to capacity with dogs that need permanent homes.  Non committal volunteer hours are daily from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Pedigree dog food, blankets and money donations are always welcome. The shelter is located within the Hardeman County Landfill on Walton Road west of Bolivar. New Bethel Baptist Church Services will begin each Sunday with Sunday school at 10:00 a.m. followed by worship service at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and on Wednesdays nights at 6:30 p.m. with Brother Robert Buse preaching.  Everyone is welcome and invited to attend.
